Great Brittish Beach Clean

Calling all beach lovers! Your beach needs you this September!

The East Grampian Coastal Partnership has teamed up with theMarine Conservation Societyto promote the Great British Beach Clean running from the 18th-21st September along the coast between Fraserburgh and St Cyrus.

Beachwatch is the national beach cleaning and litter surveying programme run by MCS to help people all around the UK to care for their coastline with the Great British Beach Clean being the flagship event.

Some of our best-loved marine wildlife is under threat from the waste and litter in our seas, with hundreds of species accidentally eating or becoming entangled in litter. Litter on our beaches is also hazardous to people so we all have a part to play in turning the tide on litter. Join an event or organiseyour own and be part of the most influential fight against marine litter in the UK!

You can help turn the tide against marine litter by taking part in this years Great British Beach Clean to ensure your much-loved beach is kept spick and span. Your favourite stretch of coast doesn’t need to be a sandy beach-all types of coast can be registered, whether it be a sandy or stony beach, rocky shores, coves or estuaries; as long as it is at the coast!  For more information please see the Beachwatch website:

To help we can provide;-

  • A marine litter talk to explain why beach litter is such an important issue

  • Training for Beachwatch organisers

  • Free skips and equipment loan

  • Help with publicity

  • Insurance for official clean ups

If your organisation, whether it be a club, community council or company would like to find out more then please get in touch. Clean ups can range from one person to over fifty, they all make a difference.
